The Italians brought with them their belief in family. All of the extended family stayed together to earn income, raise children, and offer moral support. This custom transferred over to American culture to include not just family, but friends. Communities dedicated to helping one another come from the customs of early Italian immigrants. The Italians also gave American's a piece of their culture through food. They are primarily known for brining Pizza and pasta to America, but Italians also imported breads, cheeses, and olive oil, as well.
