The currency of Bulgaria is the лев (lev) [plural: лева (leva)]. The name derives from an old Bulgarian word that means "lion". The equivalence with euro is:

1 euro = 1,95583 leva

Super markets, restaurants etc do not accept payments in euro, but one can easily exchange currency in banks which are open usually till 16:00. In the larger cities there are also some kiosks for currency exchange.
