Thanksgiving is the celebration of the harvest, despite what you read above, the Americans are certainly not the only culture who celebrate Thanksgiving since growing crops and harvesting those crops have been taking place before America was America.
Long before Europeans settled in North America, festivals of thanks and celebrations of harvest took place in Europe in the month of October.
