Poughkeepsie is a beautiful town/city with the Hudson river on its Western border. It is the mid point between Albany and NYC. It is one of the major cities on US 9. There are numerous activities that goes on all year round. It is the home to the Vassar College and Marist College. The historic town of Hyde Park (home to the FDR mansion) is approximately 8 miles north of Poughkeepsie. The numerous walking and biking trails in this area provides breathtaking views of the River Hudson. Also, there are a few beautiful Golf courses in the area. Poughkeepsie also has a large IBM facility (located in the town of Poughkeepsie).
The transportation by bus is provided by the dutchess county LOOP and city of Poughkeepsie transit. Metro North stations provide transportation to NYC via the Hudson line.
