A Moshav is an Israeli type of communal living that is less socialist and communal than a Kibbutz, but is more communal than an ordinary city or town. This is very similar to the American concept of a "gated community". In a Moshav, most individuals own their homes and grounds individually, but are required to adhere to the norms of the community (such as what colors their houses can be painted, etc.). They also have access to common resources, such as playgrounds, Swimming Pools, and gyms.
