A hamster is a small furry animal, a rodent, named the same in English and Norwegian.
I don't know what a Norwegian hamster is, but it is not a species of hamster.

I would guess it is either a mixup with Norwegian rat (one of the names for the brown rat, a bona fide rat species) or an invented species along the lines of the "Norwegian Blue" parrot from the Monty Python "dead parrot" sketch. Or, of course, merely a hamster living in Norway.
