Coatis are a Racoon like animal populated in Cancun.
It isn't. Mexico's national animal is the Crested caracara (Caracara plancus).
The state animal for New Mexico is the black bear. Old Mexico is a country rather than a state. Old Mexico lists the Golden Eagle and the Chihuahua as its national animals.
It is a possum, known in Mexico as a tlacuache.
Taco! :)
MEXICO
It's called an "agouti." It's an animal about the size of a small dog that looks like it has the head of a squirrel, with the body of a rabbit. There are several "breeds" throughout the Yucatan. They eat just about anything, and in the Cancun resorts, it's common to see them foraging about, especially in the early mornings. The general consensus is that they are cute and (basically) harmless.

The golden eagle is the national animal, it also appears on the flag.
You mean like the way cows are revered in India? No, there are no revered animals in Mexico.
