The Boston Strangler's real name was Albert De Solvo. He was never formaly

charged with the murders and was doing time for another set of crimes. There has always been a debate among law enforcement and public opinion as to whom the real strangler was. De Solvo comfessed to the crimes but recently DNA proved that he was not responsible for the last murder, Mary Sullivan. There may be further testing on the remaining victims and it is possible that there was a second killer that worked the same general area and time frame. Chances are very good though that De Solvo was responsible for some of the murders. He knew details of some of the crime scenes that only the killer would know about. And as soon as he was arrested the crimes can to a halt. This has all come to late to help De Solvo though, he was killed by another inmate in his prison cell.
