9. Once you are on the New Jersey Turnpike, take the New Jersey Turnpike NORTH to I-278 to ELIZABETH GOETHALS BR. and VERRAZANO BR at EXIT 13.
10. Take I-278 EAST through Staten Island and across both the GOETHALS BRIDGE and the VERRAZANO NARROWS BRIDGE to New York.

The best route from Queens, New York to Lafayette, Louisiana is...

1. Take whatever route you would take to the Verrazano Bridge (Preferably 278)

2. Go through Staten Island on I-278 to Exit 5 (NY-440 SOUTH to the Outerbridge Crossing). Stay on NY-440 into New Jersey and then take NJ-440 to I-95/NJ Turnpike.

3. Take the New Jersey Turnpike all the way down into Delaware which would then hit I-95 a few miles to the west. Take I-95 South towards Washington DC.

4. Stay on I-95 south in Maryland until you reach Exit 61 (I-895 South). Get off at that exit which will take you towards the Harbor Tunnel.

5. After coming out of the tunnel about 4 miles later, you will reach MD-295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway). Get off at Exit 4A towards Washington.

6. Take the BWP to I-95/I-495 Southbound (Capital Beltway). Get on I-95/I-495 south.

7. After getting on the Beltway, take it south into Virginia. At Exit 170 or 169 (whichever one it is), go on I-95 south towards Richmond, VA. You will stay on this stretch of road for about a good 100 miles or so.

8. After going through Richmond, VA on I-95, you will see an exit for I-85 SOUTH to Durham (Exit 51). Get off at this exit and you will go down I-85 into North Carolina.

9. Once in North Carolina, stay on I-85 all the way through Durham. You will merge with I-40 for a good 30 miles, but make sure you stay on I-85 all through North Carolina AND South Carolina.

10. Stay on I-85 through Georgia, including the city of Atlanta.

11. Now you should be in Alabama. I-85 ends at I-65 in Montgomery. At I-65, make sure you go southbound towards Mobile.

12. I-65 ends at I-10 west of Mobile, Alabama. At exit 0B (or which ever one it is), take I-10 WEST towards New Orleans. This will take you through Mississippi into Louisiana.

13. Once you're in Louisiana, the first exit you will encounter will be an interchange for I-12 and I-55. Here, you will go onto I-12 WEST to Baton Rouge. You will stay on I-12 for its entire length until it re-interacts with I-10.

14. At the end of I-12, you will continue WEST on I-10 towards Lafayette.

15. Exits 103A, 101, or 100 will provide hotels and such for the Lafayette area and that's it!
