No, although people of African descent is very uncommon in Mexico because historically, most of them were absorbed into the general population. In fact, Mexico's second president, Vicente Guerrero (1782 - 1831) was a mulatto. Nowadays, there are 1-2 million "Afro-Mexicans" who can trace their origins to Western Africa and are most commonly located in the coastal regions of central and southern Mexico. Many of them however, are not identified as such due to genetic intermingling with the rest of the population.
