∙ 9y agoThe Arctic Circle is an imaginary line of latitude equal to about 66.5° N latitude.
(more precisely 66° 33' 44" N)
By definition it is the latitude above which a location can experience at least 24 consecutive hours of night or 24 consecutive hours of daylight on at least one day of the year. (At the North Pole, this becomes 6 months of daylight followed by 6 months of night. Both poles cannot have actual daytime at the same time.)
The tilt of the Earth is about 23.5° so this is the complementary angle.
Locations partly within the Arctic Circle include Canada, Greenland (Denmark), Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, and the US (Alaska).

∙ 12y agoThe Arctic is a geographical region referred to by its closeness to the North Pole.
One common meaning for Arctic is the area surrounding the North Pole that is contained within the Arctic Circle. But there are other meanings.
Another meaning is the area north of the tree line, i.e., the line north of which which trees do not grow. Yet a third meaning is the area north of the 10 degrees celsius/50 degrees Fahrenheit isotherm. These latter two lines are not identical, but are fairly close to one another.
The Arctic Circle is an imaginary line drawn around the North Pole. On the day of the summer solstice, the sun does not set at the Arctic Circle. Likewise, on the day of the winter solstice, the sun does not rise.
Currently, the Arctic Circle is located at the parallel of latitude which is approximately 66°33′ north.

∙ 9y agoThe Arctic Circle is one of the five major circles of latitude that mark maps of the Earth. In 2012, it is the parallel of latitude that runs 66° 33′ 44″ (or 66.5622°) north of the Equator.
The region north of this circle is known as the Arctic.Land, The South Pole or Antarctica is on land, while the North Pole or Arctic is a frozen Ocean.
The Beaufort Sea is located between Alaska and the North Pole. It is part of the Arctic Ocean and is located north of Alaska's North Slope.
The South Pole is on a continent -- Antarctica, surrounded by water -- the Southern Ocean. The North Pole is on the Arctic Ocean, surrounded by land.
The North Pole is in the Arctic Region.
The North Pole is the northernmost point on Earth, located at the center of the Arctic Ocean. The Arctic Circle, on the other hand, is an imaginary line drawn at approximately 66.5 degrees north latitude that marks the southernmost point where the sun does not set on the summer solstice. The Arctic Circle is located south of the North Pole.
All north latitudes more than 66.5 degrees are inside the Arctic Circle, i.e. between the Circle and the North Pole.
the arctic is in the north pole and antarctica is in the south.

the arctic is the north pole antarctica is the south pole :)
The region between the Arctic Circle and the North Pole is called the Arctic region. The region between the Antarctic Circle and the South Pole is called the Antarctic region.
