The American School of Bombay (ASB) is the most expensive school in Mumbai & is among the most expensive schools in the world. Annual tuition rates range from $15,250 to $32,400 for ECEC-grade 12. In addition, the School charges a one-time registration fee of $1,000 and a one-time capital levy of $25,000. All fees are quoted in USD.
In Mumbai, by International Standards it is ASB followed by Ecole Mondiale & Singapore International school.
However compared to Indian Schools in Mumbai it has to be VIBGYOR High followed by Dhirubhai Ambani, even established schools in South Mumbai are not as expensive.
In most Indian Schools Parents have to provide a deposit (believed to be refundable) of a couple or more lakhs ( Apprx USD 7700+ on an average).
There are several other things that then get included as the actual School fees which are broken under different heads such as Tuition Fees, etc which on an average at mid-school is INR 100000 or USD 3800 apprx or more per annum.

Next comes other expenses such School Bus Fees, etc which is charged separately or School Uniform, which is to be purchased by parents or the canteen food. All of this are to be obtained/ availed from School authorised vendors & at an average these are 30 % higher at these two schools than other schools with a similar set-up.
The schools USP for justifying this high fees is central AC class rooms & a good teacher student Ratio - where other schools have about 40-60 students in a class, Vibgyor & Dhirubhai have 25 -30. They also have a Nurse & a Sick Bay/ Infirmary for Medical emergencies, unlike most other schools.
Physical punishment (Despite Govt Regulations) & verbal lashing which is common to most schools in India (Mumbai & Delhi included) is a strict NO in these two schools.
VIBGYOR also provides Workbooks / Work sheets & home notes instead of Textbooks as is the norm in Other Schools ( Though parent feedback on the quality of these is negative ).
