The Munich Act, formally known as the Munich Agreement, was signed in September 1938 by Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Italy. It allowed Nazi Germany to annex the Sudetenland, a region of Czechoslovakia, in an attempt to appease Adolf Hitler and avoid war. The agreement is often cited as a significant example of the policy of appeasement, which ultimately failed to prevent the outbreak of World War II, as it emboldened Hitler's expansionist ambitions.
The Munich Conference and the Enabling Act
They used a policy of appeasement. They met in Munich, Germany to sign the Munich Pact to allow Hitler to take the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia. This act made them look like fools when they learned Hitler had already sent troops into the Sudetenland before the Munich Conference and the signing of the pact.
