June is the middle of winter in Cape Town. While some hardy individuals swim through out the year the water temperatures are not inviting. The sea temperatures along the Atlantic coast of Cape Town will be less than 10 C, while the warmer waters of False Bay will be a few degrees warmer.

All the towns and cities at sea level have the same altitude as Cape Town. Name any sea port in any non-landlocked country on the globe and you'll be correct. How to measure this altitude easily even if you don't see the sea when you're in a city along the coast? Record at what temperature pure water boils. When it boils at 100 degrees Celsius or 212 degrees Fahrenheit you are at sea level. When it boils at a lower temperature you are higher up.
Cape Town's sea is colder than Durban's primarily due to the influence of ocean currents. The cold Benguela Current flows northward along the west coast of South Africa, bringing cooler temperatures to Cape Town's waters. In contrast, Durban is affected by the warmer Agulhas Current, which flows southward along the east coast, resulting in milder sea temperatures. Additionally, geographical factors and prevailing winds also contribute to these temperature differences.
Cape Town lies at the foot of the iconic (World Famous) Table Mountain. The Table Mountain range extends almost to the tip of the Cape Town peninsular, near Cape Point. Most suburbs lie on a narrow belt of land between the mountain and the sea. There are a number of mountain ranges which are close to Cape Town. See earlier answer flagged.
Cape Town is actually on the coast, although some areas of this spread-out city are actually built in the mountains of the city. The altitude of the city ranges from sea level, to about 50 meters above sea level. Cape Town lays at the foot of Table Mountain which has an altitude of just over 1000m.
