Well, it depends who's the first most advanced in Asia. Of course, people still picture Japan when they think of the most technologically advanced country, but many can say that that statement is no longer true.

If Japan was first, though, South Korea would definitely be the second. It beats Japan in many ways, and continues to grow. It is the most wired nation in the world and has the fastest wireless connection speed that's faster than 3 times that of the US. Also, Samsung, LG, Hyundai-Kia, and Mostitech are all companies that are from Korea that specializes in various technological things. Samsung and LG are respectively the 2nd and 3rd largest handphone maker. And also, they compete for 1st in flatscreen tvs, plasma tvs, refrigerators, and even washing machines. Hyundai-Kia is the largest shipbuilding company in the world as well as one of the largest car building companies, both are growing rapidly and are on the largest car manufacturers in Europe, China, and the US.

The Digital Media City in Seoul is the first high-tech complex in the world. And Korea is building the first complexes primarily for robotics.

For the military, South Korea is arguably the most advanced in Asia. South Korea, unlike the armies of India and Japan, develops almost all of its weapons for South Koreans build their own tanks (K1A1 and the K2 Black Panther), assault rifles (K11), artillery (K9), ships (Sejong-Class AEGIS-equipped frigates and the Dokdo Amphibious Ship/Light Aircraft Carrier), and starting to develop their own jets (FA-50 Golden Eagle, K-FX 101) along with modifications of other jets (F-15K, the most advanced version of the F-15s), and even cruise missiles (Hyunmoo IIIC).
