Currently, Toronto is a city located in the southern region of the province of Ontario however the city's priorities are vastly different then what Northern Ontario's are. The two regions of Ontario represent stark contrasts of urban and rural living. The proposal was to allow Northern Ontario to have their interests better represented while Toronto and its surrounding area to also be better represented. Toronto and its surrounding area from London, Ontario to Kingston, Ontario make up nearly a third of Canada's population.
