According to Nigel Wheatley's, "Where to Watch Birds in Europe", there are Rufous-tailed Rock Thrushes high up on Mt. Vesuvius, Blue Rock Thrushes on the limestone cliffs of the Sorrentine Peninsula and Cory's and Mediterranean Shearwaters can be seen from the ferry to Capri Island (where they nest). There are probably several hundred different kinds of birds that live around Naples, nest there in the summer or pass through on migration.
