Northern California is the land of "microclimates," meaning that the climate in one area may be dramatically different from an area not far away. Also, the climate along the coast is very different from the inland valleys and the mountains.

I believe it is the Mediterranean Climate......... Not Too Sure
California has falls in several different climate designation. Along the coast, west of the Sierra mountain range, California has a maritime climate. This means that the climate is regulated by the ocean, which results in temperatures between about 50 and 75 degrees year round. East of the Seirras, California has a continential climate. Temperatures are much higher as this area falls in a desert resulting from the mountain's rainshadow. Continental climates generally have much higher annual and diurnal (daily) temperature fluxtuations.

California's climate varies significantly by region, but it is generally characterized by a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters, particularly in coastal areas. Inland regions, such as the Central Valley and desert areas, can experience much hotter temperatures during the summer. Coastal areas tend to be more temperate due to ocean influence, while mountainous regions can be much cooler. Overall, while many parts of California experience hot weather, the climate is diverse across the state.
