The Susquehanna river does because it's tributaries run all the way up to New York . The rain up in New York runs in to storm drains up there and the water travel through the system of drains down to the Susquehanna river in to the Chesapeake bay.
The bugeye sailboat was used for oyster dredging. It was developed in the Chesapeake Bay when the watermen of the bay found it difficult and slow going using tongs to pick up oysters from the bay.
They filter the bacteria out of the water. Adult oysters can filter up to 50 gallons a day!

Henry Hudson sailed down by North Carolina. He started to immediately go North, exploring Chesapeake Bay and Delaware Bay. He then started to go further up, and traveled into what is now called the Hudson River. :)
