Australians can be any race, if they were born in Australia or have become Australian citizens.

The first known race in Australia was the aboriginal race. Right through history, they have married people of other cultures - from the Macassans who traded with them before European settlement, to English settlers, to the Afghan camel drivers.

Whilst historically Australia was settled by the English, it was not long before people of other cultures came and settled in the country. Therefore, people who are fully Australian may have German, Italian, Greek or Chinese backgrounds, just to name a few. Very few Australians can actually trace their lineage to members of the First Fleet.
