The revival of interest in trade with the East during the late Middle Ages was primarily driven by the desire for luxury goods such as spices, silk, and precious metals. The fall of Constantinople in 1453 disrupted traditional trade routes, prompting European powers to seek new pathways to Asia. Additionally, the rise of exploration and maritime technology, exemplified by figures like Christopher Columbus and Vasco da Gama, opened new avenues for direct trade with Eastern markets. This shift laid the groundwork for the Age of Exploration and the establishment of global trade networks.

I do SOS school program and the answer on this was the crusades
the crusades revived interest IN TRADE WITH THE EAST or prient, as the europeans called asia. The crusades were also important cuz indirectly they gave rise to a new social classin europe!8p <3 :p :)
In the middle ages there was little or no interest in trade or travel. It isn't until the 1400's when exploration began that the outside world held any interest in Europe. With the improvement of ships and new technology explorers began to seek out other parts of the world.
The Crusades had a definite impact upon interest in the orient. Long after the Crusades were over, merchants still used the same pathways (first used by the crusading armies) as trade routes to the orient.
Two significant events that revived European interest in the Orient during the Middle Ages were the Crusades and the travels of Marco Polo. The Crusades, which began in the late 11th century, brought Europeans into direct contact with the cultures, goods, and knowledge of the Middle East. Meanwhile, Marco Polo's travels in the late 13th century, detailed in his book "The Travels of Marco Polo," introduced Europeans to the wealth and wonders of Asia, particularly China, sparking curiosity and trade interest in the region.
