The "Eastern Shore". Its the southern tip of a peninsula called the Delmarva, because the entire state of Delaware, part of Maryland, and this little part of Virginia are on it. The Atlantic Ocean is on the east side of it and the Chesapeake Bay is to the west. Ships entering Chesapeake Bay from the Ocean sail in south of the Delmarva, below the eastern shore, past Cape Charles at the southern tip. Its just about twenty miles north of the Norfolk area. Today the Eastern Shore is connected to the Norfolk area by the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.

Why is part of Minnesota not connected to the us but connected to Canada?

The part of Minnesota that is not connected to the rest of the U.S. but is adjacent to Canada is known as the Northwest Angle. This geographic anomaly exists due to the way the U.S.-Canada border was established through the 1783 Treaty of Paris, which defined the border along the Lake of the Woods. A miscalculation in the border's location resulted in this small portion of land being separated from the mainland U.S. and surrounded by Canada on three sides. As a result, the Northwest Angle is only accessible from the rest of Minnesota via boat or through Canadian territory.
