Humans live on the station. Adelie penguins nest on Shirley Island, right next door, and other islands within the Windmill Islands. There is a smal Emperor Penguin colony to the north. Elephant, Weddel and Crabeater seals either haul out at the station or lounge on the sea ice near by. The occasional Leopard Seal visits. There are a couple of Snow Petrel colonies in the vicinity.
The only 'animals' that live on the Mawson base in Antarctica are humans: the temporary workers and scientists studying the health of planet earth.
Casey, Mawsom, Scott Base and Davis
About 20 people live there in the Winter and about 40 in the summer.
I am not in Casey base. But I am typing about Casey base!
The distance between Casey Station in Antarctica and the South Pole is approximately 3,800 kilometers (2,361 miles). This distance can vary depending on the specific route taken due to the rugged terrain and ice conditions in Antarctica.

The Casey research station in Antarctica typically has a summer population of around 100 people. This number can vary slightly each year depending on research projects, maintenance needs, and logistical factors. The summer season in Antarctica generally runs from October to March when conditions are less harsh for scientific activities.
Mawson Station is situated on the coast, so sea animals visit near the station during breeding season, including penguins and seals. No animals are kept on Antarctica, because they can transmit disease to the sea mammals, terrorize them or otherwise disturb the breeding animals.
Antarctic krill -- Euphasia superba -- form the base of the food chain in the Southern Ocean which surrounds Antarctica. All animals that make their homes in this ocean feast on krill. There are no land animals on Antarctica.
