1940!
This was a loss of France and the French commander, marquis de Montcalm was wounded and died the next day, the fall of Quebec and the capture of Montreal the next year ended the fighting in North America
The Marquis de Bouille commanded the 8,000 French Troops who bombarded the 1,000 British at Brimstone Hill for a full month until they were forced to surrender. The British garrison was allowed to march out as an undefeated force with their standards held high. One year later, after the Treaty of Versailles returned St Kitts to British control, the French force was afforded the same honor when they were forced to surrender.
After the fight with Quebec the Eastern North America was controlled by the French. This was a seven year war.
The British won the French and Indian War (1754-1763), primarily through the campaign that captured the capital of New France (Quebec) in the Battle of Quebec in 1759.As a result, France ceded control of Canada to Great Britain. Only two small islands off the coast of Newfoundland remain French territory. During the war, thousands of residents of French Acadia (ruled by Britain since 1710) were expelled from Canada, and many resettled in Louisiana where they became the Cajuns.the british won the french and indain war of 1812 (the seven year war)
Britain can claim Newfoundland as British Territory as far back as 1497 and John Cabot. Rupert's Land was claimed by Britain on May 2, 1670. British claims to Vancouver Island and mainland British Columbia date from 1792. Britain acquired Quebec (which at the time included much of present-day Ontario and extended into the Ohio Valley) with the surrender of the French troops at Montreal on September 8, 1760. By the British North America Act, Britain granted independence to Canada on July 1, 1867. Canada was the first country to be created by legislation.

it occurred a year after British general Cornwallis surrender at york town.
A fleet of French warships, commanded by Comte De Grasse, a French leader, defeated British warships and then blockaded the British army led by Cornwallis. The naval battle, known as the Battle of the Chesapeake, took place in September of 1781, with the final surrender of Cornwallis and his men taking place in October of the same year.
We do not like to think of the French winning anything in that battle many but there were French Canadians fighting against the British and Canada in the Battle. But even if one considers them French neither they or the American's managed to win any forts and were driven back. 1775 was not a great year for their revolution but it did set the stage for future victories.
