The Aborigines of Australia (including the Torres Strait Islanders) are the indigenous Australians, and the people who were here thousands of years before European settlement. They did not "rule" Australia, but lived within their own tribes, interacting with tribal neighbours, sometimes peacefully, sometimes at war, but never with the intent of dominating any other group, as the term 'rule' would suggest.
