The first Pentecostal church in the Bahamas was established in 1907. It was founded by a group of Christians who were influenced by the Pentecostal movement emerging in the United States, particularly through the Azusa Street Revival. This church laid the foundation for the growth of Pentecostalism throughout the islands. Today, the Pentecostal community is one of the largest Christian denominations in the Bahamas.
Pentecostalism was introduced in the Bahamas in the early 20th century, with significant growth occurring around the 1930s. The movement gained momentum following the establishment of the first Pentecostal church, the Church of God, in the country in 1940. This influx of Pentecostal beliefs and practices contributed to the broader Christian landscape in the Bahamas, influencing worship styles and community life.

In 1790, Prince Williams and his deacon Sharper Morris, who were run away slaves from South Carolina, was credited with establishing the Baptist faith in the Bahamas. They both started the Bethel Baptist Church on Meeting Street which is the oldest Baptist Church in the Bahamas. Even though Prince Williams was credited with being the founder of the First Baptist Church, he was not allowed to be the pastor because he had a bad marriage. Pastor Scriven became the first pastor of Bethel Baptist Church. Prince Williams then established the St. John's Native Baptist Church, originally called William's chapel and Bethlehem Chapel.
