Vice Admiral Sir George Carteret, 1st Baronet (c. 1610 - 18 January 1680 N.S.), son of Elias de Carteret, was a royalist statesman in Jersey and England, who served in the Clarendon Ministry as Treasurer of the Navy. He was also one of the original Lords Proprietor of the former British colony of Carolina and U.S. state of New Jersey. Carteret, a town in New Jersey and Carteret County in North Carolina are named after him.Morgan Countyis a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 17,541.[1] Its county seat is Berkeley Springs[2]. The county is one of three in Hagerstown-Martinsburg, MD-WV Metropolitan Statistical Area. Morgan County was formed in 1820 from parts of Hampshire and Berkeley Counties and named in honor of General Daniel Morgan, prominent soldier of the American Revolutionary War.
