In 1587, he went for a second expedition back to Roanoke, which failed also. 1594, Raleigh heard of a "City of Gold" in South America and went to find it. He published an exaggerated account of his experiances which led to the legend of El Dorado. 1616, was released from the Tower to conduct a second travel out to El Dorado.
