Beautiful unspoiled island. Laid back! Beaches are ultra sweet. Outside dining with waterviews. Raches is a quaint villiage high in the mountain, with the best frappa coffee. Cool breeze and the surrounding trees make every thing alright. Totally enjoyed my self. Rent a car take a ride around the island in the light of day. Stay put at night, some place you enjoy as the driving in the dark of night is tuff.
The brith of Dionysus was a tragic one. His mother was the mortal Semele and his father was the god Zeus. Hera found out about yet another affair and took a mortal form and acted as a nurse for Semele. When Semele gossiped that the father was Zeus, Hera - in disguise- questioned her. Semele called Zeus to prove his god-hood, even after Zeus begged her not to. But she asked it, and when he presented him-self in his full glory Semele died. No mortal could look upon an unduised god without dying. Zeus, in a last acted of love saved the baby -Dionysus- from dying aswell and took him out of his mother womb. Zeus sowed the baby to his thigh to allow him to keep growing. finally when Dionysus was ready Zeus cut him from his thigh. He was 'born' on Mount Pramnos in the island of Ikaria.
