The Encino Country Club was located just south of Ventura Blvd. on Havenhurst, and was a victim of the Great Depression; as well as frequently threatened by fire. The last thing mentioned in LA Times archival materials is the club was going to be auctioned off, but the members were fighting it. Sadly, the property became more valuable then the club itself.
The club consisted of 872 acres, which was used mostly for hunting, fishing and Golf, as well as tennis and other sports of the day. The golf course was laid out by William Watson.
