Several countries use that denomination, or a variation of it: Denmark, Norway, Sweden (called kronor), Iceland (kronur), and the Czech Republic (koruny). The name is derived from each country's word for "crown".

However, even if the name is spelled exactly the same way the various kroners aren't interchangeable, just like you can't for example spend Hong Kong dollars in the U.S. You have to know which specific country issued your currency.
