Suryavamshi Are Katika caste people have their surname as Katika. Their ancestors used to be warriors and followers of Great Chatrpathi Shivaji Maharaj. After defeat of maratas in 16th century these people were scatered in south India taking other professions. Their Goddess is Sunama Jakani. Every year on first week of February there is big jatara or procession held in Gooty,Kurnool Distt, AP. People of this caste mostly speak hindi as first language and secon language is the language of the state where they are residing.
