The two colonies founded exactly 100 years apart are Virginia and Georgia. In 1636, when Minister Thomas Hooker and Governor John Haynes founded the colony of Connecticut, the population was 100. By 1640, the population grew to 1,472. Ten years later, in 1740, the population was 89,580.
