It was John Mason who received New Hampshire as a land grant in 1629, but the area had been settled by English fishermen led by David Thompson (or Thomson) in 1623.

The land grants were claimed by Massachusetts in 1641, but split off by King Charles II in 1679 to form the Province of New hampshire.
I know who signed the Declaration of Indepence from New Hampshire, they were Josiah Bartlett, William Whipple,& Matthew Thornton.
David Thompson and Captain John Mason.

From my studies, it was John Wheelright. But I'm not sure how to spell it.
Jhon wheelwrights
In the year 1623 and was founded by Captain John Mason. (Not Whellwright as was previously written)
