Dr. Jose Rizal is often referred to as the "Pride of the Malay Race" or the "National Hero of the Philippines."
Malay
Yes.
The Malay Archipelago consists of the modern day countries of Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and East Timor. This is where people got the concept of Malay as a race (Malays are also an ethnic group). Although, Malay as a race is being an outdated term. Because back then, people believed that all indegenous Indonesians, Filipinos, Malaysian, Bruneiens and East Timorese are all ethnic Malays. I use to think that too. But they are just Malay by race. So the Malay Archipelago is located in Asia, Southeast Asia. Before, the entire region was called "Malaysia" (combination of Malay and Asia).
There is no Malay holy book as such. It seems that race and religion have been confused. Most Malays are Muslims. They embrace Islam and the holy book of Islam is the quran/qoran/koran. Malays can be non-Muslims too. Malay is a race, not a religion. In Malaysia, there are Indian Muslims and Chinese Muslims. Hope it helped.
Well basically they mean almost the same thing. but white pride means that you take pride in your white race, white power means that the white race has power over every other race.
The Malay Archipelago consists of several countries that form an archipelago below southeast Asia and above Australia. The countries that consists of the Malay Archipelago are as follows:IndonesiaMalaysiaThe PhilippinesPapua New GuineaSingaporeEast TimorBrunei*Note that the island of New Guinea is sometimes not included in some definitions of the Malay Archipelago. The term "Malay" comes from European explorers who discovered that a race of natives covered all of the archipelago and dubbed them the "Malay".
Yes, Filipinos are "Malay" by race definately, but not by ethnicity. Many people think that ethnic Malays are Malaysians, Indonesians, Bruneiens and Filipinos. On another hand, many people think that the Malay Race is ONLY Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and the Philippines. For both are big misconceptions. Ethnic Malays, are centered around countries and islands south and west of the Philippines, excluding the Philippines itself. The Malay "Race" however, not only ecompasses the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei but ALL of Southeast Asia, all of Oceania (Micronesia, Polynesia and Melanesia), and the African island of Madagascar. So this means, that Samoans, Tongans, Fijians, Hawaiians, Filipinos, Vietnamese, Thai, Cambodian, Burmese and Africans from Madagascar are all "Malays" by race. NOT ethnicity. So are Filipinos part of the Malay Race? Yes, they are because Malay Race is simply an easier term for "Austronesian people", or the "sailing race". But are Filipinos ethnic Malays? Mmm...yes and no. By their origin yes, but as of today Filipinos do NOT speak Malay or a form of Malay as a native/national language. So no, Filipinos are not ethnic Malays. Malays don't even make a minority population in the Philippines. In fact, they don't live in the Philippines at all. The only Malays you'll find in the Philippines are probably tourists or overseas workers from Malaysia or Indonesia. That's all, no more.
the race is on
His/her personal pride.
The Malay and the Chinese, as some Chinese emigrated there. The Malays are native, though.
"Bahasa Melayu" refers to a language, whereas "Malay" refers to a race of people in Malaysia. "Bahasa Melayu" is the language spoken by the "Malay" people. Malaysia, has adopted "Bahasa Melayu" as the official language and thereby become the language spoken by Malaysians.
