It's not fair to say one race is better than another. Sri Lankan's tamils known as Eelam tamils, as opposed to the Sinhala people of Sri Lanka. Eelam Tamils have a national soccer team that is highly regarded and has a better ranking then the Sri Lankan national team. Eelam tamils have produced some great rappers for example M.I.A a famous english rapper. Eelam tamil have also produced some great sports men/ women for example leading wicket taker in the world Murali, current captain of Sri Lanka cricket Angelo Mathews and also Tallest netballer in the world Thurasingam also captain of the sri lankan netball team. Jaffna the capital of the Northern sri lankan were 99% of sri lankan tamils live. Jaffna has a beautiful nature with bliss beaches and great tourism places, Jaffna as a state have a rich and proud culture of sports. In recent years they have won the Carltons 7's rugby cup, the domestic t20 cup and also the FA cup (south asia) in soccer. All indian tamils have done is make movies that make no sense and take credit for thing Sri Lankan tamils have done. Sri Lanka tamils never came over from south india, Sri Lankan tamils were the first one in the beautiful island of Lanka perviously called Jaffna Kingdom then the british came and changed everything.
Not everyone will agree with this, but this is one opinion: Tamil Tigers are freedom fighters because: Before the British invaded, Sri Lanka was called Ceylon, a peaceful country for both the Tamils and Singhalese. Once the British left, they handed power back to Sri Lanka back, not realizing they gave majority seats to the Singhalese. The government then voted to make Singhalese the national language, therefore lowering the chance of Tamils finding jobs or getting into university. Then they promoted Budhism as the only religion to follow - giving priority places for university to Singhalese Buddhists. Tamils tried to make their voice heard but were constantly attacked by Singhalese mobs and gangs. In the 70's the LTE formed as a voice for all Tamils and power in numbers. The one mission is to fight back the Tamil homeland: north Sri Lanka.

Because the Tamil Tigers have been defeated. And 250,000 Tamils are now being released from internment camps. Many of which no longer wish to remain in Sri Lanka, for the obvious reason that they are not terribly welcome.
A Sri Lankan is called just that, a Sri Lankan. Perhaps you are thinking of Sir or Ma'am or Mr. or Mrs.? *Actually there are a few races within Sri Lanka. A traditional Sri Lankan that doesn't have have mixed blood is known as a Singhlese, one that is Mixed race is a Burgher and then there are also Tamils which are traditionally from the north of Sri Lanka and have stronger ties to India. These aren't the only races but the most prominent!
There is no religious fight in Sri Lanka. We have Majority Buddhist and Minority Hindu, Muslims, and Burgers. There is NO religious conflict between the people of Sri Lanka but we have problem with majority Sinhalese and Minority Tamils.Where as before the independent of Sri Lanka from the British in 1948, the South and the west was ruled by Sinhala kingdom and North and east was ruled by Tamil Kingdom. As for the easy purpose of ruling the country, the British made the county in to one. When they left the country they left the county as one and let the Sinhalese and Tamils to sort out there problem.Due to Sinhalese are majority and the government which made of Sinhala majority ministers who wants to please the Majority, Sinhala Government start to impose some new policies that against the Minority. Such as Standardization, Sinhala Only Language and so on. This made the fundamental disadvantage for the Minority Tamils and they raised against the government.Since than following was happened....1948 - Months after gaining independence, the Government of Sri Lanka disenfranchises 33% of Tamils, removing their right to vote...62 years on, the discriminationcontinues...1958 - Hundreds of Tamils are murdered in the first of many vicious racial attacks...52 years on, the violence continues...1983 - Over 3000 Tamils are murdered and 150,000 made homeless in Sri Lankan State sponsored anti-Tamil riots...27 years on, the genocide continues...2009 - Over 40,000 Tamils killed, over 300,000 Tamils imprisoned in detention camps...as the world watches on, the eradication of a people continues...Today - IDPs left to fend for themselves, crimes against humanity with impunity, state sponsored colonization of Tamil areas, media censorship, lack of access to international monitors, no justice for the lives lost and no voice for those who have survived...the injustice continues...
My grandfather was a nazi and he liked North Indians, Pakistanis, Singhalese (natives of some Indian island) and Bengalis. He just hated Tamils, people Kerala, Bangladeshis etc. I love all races though and I'm a modern day German :)
