One of the main reasons that Australia got involved was out of alligence and loyaty to the "Mother Country" or Britain. However there were many other contributing factors. For example, most people at the time thought the war would be over in six months. They thought it would be a great opportunity to see the world and have an adventure. Some people also thought that Australia should get involved to stop the enemy ever reaching Australia.

Although overall the main reason we got involved was to help our friends in Britain.
