St. Joseph's feast day is celebrated on March 19, and in Italy it is also Father's Day because Joseph raised Jesus as his son and was a perfect human father. Italians do not wear red on this day. Years ago the Communists had a national holiday approved on May 1st as Festa Del Lavoro or let's say Labor Day and did wear red because it is the communist color. The Church, to contrast communism, decided to celebrate St. Joseph the Worker (S. Giuseppe Lavoratore) on May 1st. The communists continued to wear red to assert their political views. Wearing red on May 1st has nothing to do with St. Joseph.

Red Nose Day is an annual charity event in the UK. You would wear a red nose to show that you are participating in that particular event in the same way that you would wear any other badge, sticker or insignia to show that you were participating in, or had donated to, any other charity event.
Red Nose Day is named after the iconic red foam noses that people wear as a symbol of the day. The nose represents fun and humor, which are important elements of the event aimed at raising awareness and funds to help end child poverty. The red nose acts as a lighthearted way to engage and raise spirits while supporting a serious cause.
