The purpose of this intervention is to prevent a slaughter of civilians by Gadhafi. The civil war is still in progress as of April 4, 2011, as I type. Even if Gadhafi is defeated by the rebellion, that will not mean that Obama or the US will have control of Libya. The rebels will then be in control.
