The US does not "hate" Cuba. The US government distrusts the government of Cuba, specifically the Castro regime, due to their roll in events like the missile crisis of October 1962. Let's keep in mind that to the Cuban perspective, they may have been operating then with an eye toward national defense. The US was aggressively involved in areas around the globe then to combat the spread of communism. Cuba was an ally of the communist Soviet Union.

The US is more than the government that runs the country. The US is 350 million American citizens, many of whom are barely confident (less so satisfied perhaps) with the ability of the government to leads us competently or safely into the future.
