Although Asia is the largest continent, its population is much higher in comparion with other continents than would be explained by sheer size. The inhabitants of Asia live in varied climates, but mainly in a temperate zone for agriculture. The benefit of large families was to provide labor for farming and other food gathering. So the growth was not inhibited greatly by weather or lack of food, but mainly through infant mortality, diseases and wars. The reduction in these limiting factors has in some cases stimulated explosive population growth. The more people you have, the more will be born.
