The extensive desert areas in the Middle East are primarily due to its geographical location and climate. The region is situated in the subtropical high-pressure zone, which leads to low precipitation and high evaporation rates. Additionally, the presence of mountain ranges, such as the Zagros and the Atlas, creates rain shadows that further reduce moisture in the interior. Combined with high temperatures and limited vegetation, these factors contribute to the dominance of desert landscapes.
