Abraham Lincoln lead our country through the civil war keeping it together. The big thing that he did was end slavery. He was the one who created the Emancipation Proclamation, which is what led to the end of slavery. Lincoln supported the Homestead Act, which allowed poor people in the east take land in the west. He lead as example and influences many later presidents. He signed the Morrill Act which was designed to aid in the establishment of agricultural and mechanical colleges in each state.
