England is one of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The other three countries are Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Because people don't know that they are different entities. This is complex..... The country of England consists of England and Wales (Wales was never a country in its own right). Great Britain was formed when an Act of Union united England and Scotland. At that time England ruled Ireland, and later another Act of Union united Great Britain and Ireland in what was then known as The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Much of Ireland later gained its independence and what was left in the union meant that the name had to be changed to The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. So, the term The United Kingdom, or 'the UK' includes Ireland and Great Britain or 'Britain' doesn't. However, many people use the terms interchangeably not realising that distinctions involved.
They settled in all of Great Britain but England was later invaded by other races.
The Kingdom of Great Britain, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland nor The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland have ever been Absolute Monarchies, but England (Until 1215) and Scotland were Absolute Monarchies with Queen Anne of Scotland (later Queen of Great Britain but only with Constitutional powers) (Scotland; 1702-1707 - Great Britain; 1707-1714) and King John of England (1199-1216).
They took over Wales and what later came to be called England, but not Scotland.
France and later Great Britain
The Anglo Saxons took over Britain which they later called England
Great Britain is the islands which incorporate England, Wales and Scotland. The United Kingdom is the UK of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is no more, and can never be any more a part of Great Britain than Denmark can. It is, however, the UK. plain and simple.
Spain originally, followed by Portugal, England (later Great Britain), and France, with smaller claims by Holland and Denmark.
Romanticism originated in England and a bit later had a great influence on American writers such as Thoreau and Emerson.
Originally a colony, and later a dominion.
Great Britain as a unified sovereignty was formed in 1707 (Scotland and England). The US was a collection of English, later British colonies in coastal North America until they fought the Revolutionary War (1775-1783).
The crowns of England and Scotland were united in 1603. The parliaments of England and Scotland were joined later in 1707 in the act of union creating The Kingdom of Great Britain. In 1801 the Kingdom of Great Britain was united with the Kingdom of Ireland creating The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. In 1922 the Southern part of Ireland was partitioned to become what is now The Republic of Ireland, and The United Kingdom became The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
