During this time, Malta was a British country, and so they were a prime place for the Italians to start bombing. The night after the Italians joined the Germans, Malta was bombed. Unprepared, people fled. One of the things Malta is known for is for all of it's caves and underground tunnels. Families took to these caves and catacombs, bringing rations of food. Eventually, after a few weeks [Because their ships keep being bombed], the British arrived with the essential food and rations. When the war was over, England gave Malta it's independance for it's bravery and it's loyalty to the winning side.
