its because it was all around the time of the Alamo and many other people who gave their lives ,that could have been great, for Texas independence. like David Crockett, or James Bowie (the one who died because he was ill). and because it was around the time when they had a GREAT battle with the Mexicans called the Battle of San Jacinto ( pernouce: ha-sent-o ) . this battle was where Sam Houston had his men attack Santa Anna's army while they where sleeping. and in just 18 minutes. they killed about 530 Mexicans and captured about 630 Mexicans, if i don't have two battles mixed up(about the 530 and 630 Mexicans). and that is only part of the reason the 1820's and 1830's were so important.
