The Government of Saudi Arabia (the Royal Family) is supposed to be allied with the United States. The Saudi's were not harboring or creating WMD's and appear to be cracking down on their extremists sects. The Saudi's are not percieved as a threat to global stability even though many Jihadi Salafis come from that country.

What nation did Iraq try to take control of during the Gulf War of 1990?

Iraq took control of Kuwait quickly and effectively on August 1, 1990, although the Emir of Kuwait managed to escape by helicopter. There was a major concern that Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf countries would be invaded next, causing the UN Security Council to meet in emergency session. Except for a few battles and skirmishes on the Iraqi-Saudi border, Saudi Arabia was not invaded. Iraq could have easily invaded Saudi Arabia during the buildup for Operation Desert Shield, but it did not. It is supposed that Iraq was trying to win over the other Arab countries peacefully rather than invade them as was done with Kuwait.

Who are Saudi Arabia's enemies and allies?

Answer 1United States, UK, Russia, France, and ChinaAnswer 2Considering that Saudi Arabia maintains good relations with all five of the countries in Answer 1 based on oil commerce and defense concerns, it seems rather silly to call them enemies. Saudi Arabia is enemies with Iran and Iranian client regimes (such as Assad's Syria and Al-Maliki's Iraq). Saudi Arabia has an awkward relationship with Israel where they hate it and its existence immensely, but the mutual animosity towards Iran makes Israel the lesser evil.
