The American flag in use today was not in existence during the Revolutionary War; it was created after Hawaii became a state (the flag was adopted on July 4, 1960). The first true American flag was known as the Grand Union. This flag was a clone of the one in use today, but instead of stars in the upper left corner, there was the Union Jack, to represent Great Britain. This flag was in use during the Revolutionary War (1775-1777; so it was in use when the US declared independence). The recognized first American flag, however, is the Stars and Stripes (made by Betsy Ross). This flag was also similar to the one in use today, however, it only had 13 stars and they were arranged in a circle (one star to represent each state at the time, much like today). This flag came into use immediately after the Grand Union (1777) and was replaced in 1795. Since the American Revolution lasted from 1775-1783, both of these flags were in use during the war.

I'm pretty sure that it was the American Flag.

The American flag was first flown at the Battle of Fort Stanwix in New York during the American Revolutionary War in 1777. This event marked one of the earliest uses of the flag in battle, symbolizing the colonies' fight for independence. The flag was officially adopted by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777, establishing it as a national emblem.

According to facts it was before the Revolutionary war.
It is said that Betsy Ross fashioned the first American Flag during the revolutionary war time period. There is no written document of it but there is evidence of the making of our flag today. Also, when she sewed it together there were only 13 stars symbolizing the 13 colonies.
The flag of the Bonhomme Richard was an American naval ensign created for Captain John Paul Jones, the commander of the ship during the American Revolutionary War. It featured a design that included the colors and symbols of the Continental Navy. The ship is famously known for its victory over the British warship HMS Serapis in 1779. The flag symbolizes the spirit of American resistance and naval prowess during the struggle for independence.
When the American flag falls, it means that someone VERY important died.
