Because Florida is far more south than Montana. The more close a place is to the equator, the warmer climate there is. This is because the equatorial area of Earth gathers the sunlight more than the north and south areas. More light from the Sun means warmer climate. The Earth is tilted, and that forms the seasons in here. On the polar areas the seasons are more prominent because at winter time the north pole is tilted away from the Sun and gathers less sunlight, while the south pole area is tilted towards sun and gathers more sunlight at the same time. That reverses in summer. Although the poles are far from the Sun in every season so they don't gather nearly as much sunlight than the equatorial area. Equator is almost straight aimed to the Sun at every season, which makes it very hot climate and not prominent seasons.
