Sedona is a city in Arizona with a population of 11 483 (as of 2007). The city is named after Sedona Arabelle Miller Schnebly, the wife of Sedona's first postmaster. The city is on the border of the Coconino and Yavapai counties in the state's northwest. Sedona is 4,326 ft (1,319 m) above sea level and has a total area of 18.6 sq mi (48.2 km2). The mayor of Sedona is Rob Adams. There is a small airport with one runway and one helipad.
Sedona's main landmark is its beautifully colored sandstone formations, in stunning red and orange colors. They appear to be illuminated by a rising or setting sun, and are a popular destination for Mountain Biking and hiking. This sight has even influenced a theme park ride at Disneyland Paris, named Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. In addition to the stone formations, Sedona is home to the world's only McDonald's store with turquoise arches instead of their signature yellow 'M' arch.
